Walk through the history of Rock Hill and learn about our rich history and about the culture of locals and more. Read our historical markers as you go to see where significant events took place.

Start your day at the Jail, No Bail exhibit. Jail, No Bail: How 30 Days Impacted the Civil Rights Movement captures the unique role their protest played in the 1960s civil rights movement. Later dubbed the Friendship Nine because most were students at nearby Friendship College, this group of men bravely joined with national activists to protest segregation and oppression prevalent in Rock Hill and throughout the United States.

Get some lunch at the Kounter restaurant just a few steps away where history took place.

Just a few steps away is the beautiful Freedom Walkway. See more stories of how oridnary people changed Rock Hill for the better.

Finish your day with some sweet treats at the local French bakery. This bakery used to be downtowns bank and still has the old bank vault.
