Join us for “Jazz in a Sacred Space” – a performance by the David Pankey Trio (www.davidpankeypianojazz.com).

Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, built in 1854, contains on its property “Clay Hill Graveyard” – where grave sites of former enslaved and freed Blacks can be found. The church balcony still contains pews constructed by enslaved Blacks who also attended the church. After the Emancipation Proclamation, freed Blacks left York, SC, for Liberia, Africa. Today, the church has a “sister” relationship with a church in Monrovia, Liberia. A historic marker in front of the church’s mini chapel commemorates those pioneers and their historic trip.

DONATION: $10 for adults; $5 for Teens; 12 & under, Free (Donations help maintain church properties, including Common Ground, winding trails with meditation stations for all to enjoy.) On sale: Items made of reclaimed wood from the church’s historic properties.
