Build enthusiasm for exploring the natural world during “Take a Child Outside Week.” The Museum of York County’s day-long celebration is designed to help families with children develop a better understanding and appreciation of the great outdoors.

Explore the museum’s nature trail to learn about lichens and discover Opossum Hollow and Turkey Trot along the way. The site’s dedicated volunteer gardeners show off the Monarch Way-station, Carolina Fence, and Rain Gardens while sharing ideas and ways to create valuable garden spaces. Get the buzz on honey bees, and purchase local honey from York County Beekeepers Association. Meet herpetologist, Ken Wagner, and live reptiles from the Carolina Piedmont. Experience a butterfly release at noon (weather permitting.)

The Museum of York County has an outdoor picnic area so pack a lunch and enjoy the day.
All outdoor programs will go on rain or shine – with the exception of the butterfly release; appropriate outdoor clothing is recommended.

ADMISSION: Adults $8, Seniors $7, Youth $5, CHM members & ages 3 and under FREE
