Yes, that’s right! It’s the dead of winter and time for Hog Butchering Day at Historic Brattonsville, part of the Culture & Heritage Museums.  Experience the colonial past and witness the traditional family affair of processing and preserving a whole hog. Over twenty historically-dressed interpreters come together for this time-honored practice as they embrace the hog from jowl to ham and everything in between. Observe the preparations of chitterlings and sausages and the making of bacon. Gather around the hearth for some 18th century Carolina Backcountry cooking. The living history museum at Brattonsville will present a sundry of pork-processing activities throughout the day.

Gardeners BBQ of York County will provide food concessions.

Admission: Adult, $6; Senior, $5; Youth ages 4-17, $3; CHM members and children 3 and under are admitted FREE.
